Frequently asked questions

How does the 30-day trial work?+

Start without a credit card. You get the full Pocket Check experience for 30 days - bank sync, AI coach, dashboard, everything. On day 31 we sever the bank connection (no charges) and your account enters a read-only mode where you can still view your historical data and use the retirement planner. Reactivate anytime to resume syncing.

What happens to my data if I do not subscribe?+

Your bank connection is severed on day 31 so you are never charged Plaid fees on our behalf. Your historical transactions stay viewable in read-only mode for 60 days. After 90 days of inactivity we delete your financial data entirely. You can sign back up anytime, but a second trial requires emailing support.

Why is there no permanent free tier?+

Honest answer: every connected bank account costs us ~$1/month in Plaid fees, regardless of whether you pay us. A free-with-Plaid tier would either bleed us dry or require a thin, useless free experience. Instead the Retirement Planner is genuinely free and the 30-day trial gives you the full product to evaluate.

How does this compare to Monarch Money or YNAB?+

Monarch is $99/year, YNAB is $109/year. We are $59/year. We are not trying to replace their power-user features - we are built for the under-30 starting from zero, with a conversational AI coach as the headline feature instead of a side feature.

Can I cancel anytime?+

Yes. One click in Settings. No phone calls, no retention emails, no penalties. If you cancel mid-cycle you keep full access until the period you paid for ends, then it converts to read-only.

Are you going to raise prices later?+

If you lock in an annual subscription at the current price, that price is locked for you for as long as you keep your subscription active. Monthly subscribers may see future price increases with 30 days notice.
