Privacy Policy

Effective Date: April 2, 2026  |  Last Updated: April 2, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Pocket Check LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Pocket Check application. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

  • Monthly income and budget targets you enter manually
  • Bill and expense information
  • Chat messages submitted to the AI financial coach

1.2 Financial Data via Plaid

  • Plaid retrieves account balances and transactions in read-only mode
  • Pocket Check cannot move or transfer funds
  • We do not store bank login credentials - that is handled securely by Plaid
  • Plaid is governed by their own Privacy Policy at plaid.com/legal

1.3 Device Information

  • Device token for push notifications (if permission is granted)
  • App usage data for crash reporting

1.4 Cookies

We use only strictly necessary cookies, to keep you signed in and to process payments. We do not use analytics, advertising, or cross-site tracking cookies. For details, see our Cookie Policy.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To calculate affordability and provide Yes/No/Maybe verdicts
  • To power the AI financial coach with context about your finances
  • To track budget targets and upcoming bills
  • To send reminders you explicitly request
  • To improve app performance and fix bugs

We do not use your financial data for advertising or profiling.

3. How We Store Your Information

Your account data, budget settings, bills, income sources, savings goals, transaction overrides, and net worth snapshots are stored in our Supabase Postgres database. Every row is protected by Postgres row-level security, which means each user can only read and write their own data; no other user (and no human at Pocket Check) can read your records without explicit admin escalation. Plaid access tokens are stored on our Railway backend solely to retrieve account data on your behalf. AI chat history is stored in your browser’s local storage only, never on our servers, and is cleared when you tap “New chat”. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal or financial information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Plaid End User Privacy Policy.By connecting your bank through Pocket Check, you agree to Plaid’s End User Privacy Policy, which governs how Plaid collects, uses, and shares the financial data it accesses on your behalf. Read it at plaid.com/legal/#end-user-privacy-policy.

Data retention. If your trial expires or you cancel your subscription, your data remains in your account in read-only mode for 90 days in case you decide to come back. After 90 days, we permanently delete it. You can also request immediate deletion by emailing pocketcheckapp@gmail.com.

4. Third-Party Services

5. Data Security

  • Bank credentials are never stored by Pocket Check - only a read-only Plaid access token
  • Sensitive data is stored using encrypted secure storage
  • All communication uses HTTPS encryption

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

6. Your Rights and Choices

6.1 Disconnect Your Bank

You may disconnect your bank at any time from within the App. Upon disconnection, the Plaid access token is deleted from our servers.
